My Story

At Safe Harbor Contractors, we bring over 15 years of hands-on experience to Sarasota’s remodeling, renovation, and real estate scene. Founded by Jonah Wright—a Sarasota native, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and third-generation tradesman—our business is built on hard work, integrity, and local pride.

I began swinging hammers by working for my father’s roofing company during summer vacation between 7th and 8th grade. Since then, I’ve spent the last couple of decades sharpening my skills in remodeling, design, and real estate investment across the Sarasota area.

During my time in the USMC, I worked as a welder in a maintenance platoon focused on repairing and maintaining AMTRAC vehicles. Although I now focus on repairing and maintaining homes and properties in the civilian world, my commitment to the focus, discipline, and high expectations I learned in the military never left my side.

After the Marine Corps, I spent several years as a middle and high school teacher at a local charter school. It was during this period that I started investing in real estate. I began to hone my craft as a remodeling professional by purchasing deeply distressed houses and transforming them into incredible homes for families throughout our community.

In an effort to improve the quality of my projects and hone in on my own skillset, I left the teaching profession and embarked on a new effort to learn the drywall trade. In doing so, I had the incredible privilege of working and learning from with a true craftsman. His 35 years of experience, vast knowledge, and inconceivable talent equipped me with the tools and skills necessary for taking my business to the next level. I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to learn this specialized skill from a true master–thank you Glenn! 

I also owe a huge debt of gratitude to my lovely wife, Melissa. I often say that anyone who loves the work we do owes the compliment to her.  As the designer-in-chief behind our operation, her incredible eye for design brings warmth and personality to all of our projects. She creates the vision–I bring it into reality.

We draw our inspiration from timeless New England craftsmanship, blending it with modern functionality and unique Florida charm.
